My Exclusive Private Dinner At Sunda
Yesterday, I was really excited to find out that I was the winner of a fabulous contest that Billy Dec, who is the owner of Sunda and a few other great restaurants and clubs here in Chicago, was promoting. I had my wonderful twitter friends tell him why I and a guest should be chosen to go to an exclusive private dinner at Sunda that evening. So, a big thank you again to those ladies for helping me win! The prize was 2 tickets to a 6 course Omakase meal prepared by the head sushi chef, Chef Jesse.
Jesse told us this was the first time that Sunda was preparing a dinner like this so it was really fun to be the first ones to try out this exclusive menu. I have to say that it was kinda funny because when we went upstairs to the private room it was only me and my guest and two other guys, Steve and Brian. The huge party of 10 (lucky for us in the end) didn’t show up which actually made the dinner that much more fun with just the four of us. But, enough chatter and let me tell you about the courses!

Here's our private dinning room

Sake tasting
The first thing we tried was a variety of sake. I really liked the sparkling lighter sake.

The Menu
This was the first time I had ever had a 6 course meal, I was really excited to try it all.

Course 1 ~ Amuse ~ Chicago Inspired Tuna Tartare
Chef Jess came up with this himself, inspired by the famous Chicago hot dog. It was delish!

Course 2 ~ Sashimi ~ Toro, Ankimo, Fire Rive Oyster
Loved the salmon, loved the tuna, the oyster was a little different but I don’t eat oysters anyway. Doesn’t it all look so beautiful?

Course 3 ~ Topped Sushi
I enjoyed it all, I couldn’t pick a favorite!

Course 4 ~ Seared Hokkaido Scallop
It looks amazing and was amazing, especially cooked in wasabi butter.
I know what your thinking and yes, this beef really just melted in your mouth.

My drinks
At one point in the evening I was working on five drinks at once, haha.
Our final course, made by the pastry chef. Very tasty!

Chef Jesse and me
Chef Jesse created one of the most amazing meals I have ever eaten, and I’m not just saying that! Thank you again Chef Jesse!
PS. I’m wearing an embellished bell sleeve top with black leggings and over-the-knee boots. All the clothes are actually from Forever 21, super cute!
So, that was our exclusive dinner at Sunda. I had such a fun time with everyone and the whole crew at Sunda was a blast, such a memorable evening. Thank you so much to Sunda and Billy Dec! We can’t wait to go back!
Just to let you guys know if you haven’t been yet, you have to check out Sunda and especially check out the happy hour Monday – Thursday from 5pm – 7pm for half price sushi pairings and cocktails. You will love!
