Gold Rush Shopping Event at AKIRA Chicago

Tonight, I went to another event at AKIRA on North Avenue, this time to do a little shopping with one of my oldest friends. This event was really fun and girly with drinks and apps on one side of the store and mini makeovers provided by Ulta on the other.

AKIRA is one of my favorite boutiques in Chicago, so it was great see what looks they had for the winter. Lots of items with a touch of gold, great cozy looks, and lots of sparkles. I loved the way the displays were set up, very chic!

Garmental.com was also at the event to help us girls with styling. If you haven’t signed up at Garmental.com, you definitely should. Garmental is great for finding unique or certain looks while supporting local boutiques and designers right here in Chicago. Each day they feature a new look from a boutique or designer and they tell you where you can get it. They can also become your stylist to help you find key looks and tell you exactly where to go.

A few months ago I did an interview with co-founder Suzanne Kopulos and it was great to catch up with her tonight and ask her about the success Garmental has received since their launch.

Suzanne told me that they have increased member by 400% and have been featured on numerous T.V. spots. Garmental has been in the works to bring their member some great new giveaways for the holidays, and they were selected by 900 Shops on Michigan Avenue to do a feature in which they will pick their favorite looks from around the mall for the holiday season. Suzanne said the success of the site has been great and I am looking forward to what they are planning to bring members in the next few months. So stay tuned!
