Relax at Home Tonight and Have Your Own At-Home Spa Night

The economy has been rough on everyone and it makes it really tough to be able to do those “extra things”  that you used to love. Going to the spy and spending $200 or more on a treatment is probably out of the question. But here are some ideas of some things you can do to have your own spa night at home.

From the store before your spa night begins pick up your favorite wine, favorite fruit, (favorite movie if you don’t have it at home), vitamin E oil or Vaseline, a new nail polish, and the Quench lotion by Olay, this is a favorite of my and you will love it. Then stop by the book store and pick up that novel you have been waiting to read. You might not have everything for your spa night so read through this and make sure you have everything you need.

SPA

When you get home you will want to get your spa treatments together. You can make an easy at home body scrub. Here is what you will need to make your spa recipe…

  • One cup of oatmeal
  • One cup of brown sugar
  • One cup of olive oil

Mix them all together to get a nice paste.

Or you can make an at home facial by using the following…

  • A  little cream with Aloe Vera
  • Yogurt
  • Honey
  • Avocado

Mix together all ingredients in your blender, and pour into bowl.

At this time you can also cut up your fruit to eat with your wine, or even make a delicious small fruit salad.

At home spa treatment

Then you will want to do if get comfortable so put on a spa robe or your favorite comfy clothes. Then turn off unneeded lights and light your favorite scented candles especially in the bathroom. Put on some some  relaxing music, something like Enigma is one of my favorites.

Next remove all your old nail polish. Begin running your bath water to a temperature that is a little hotter then you can stand. Water does cool down quickly. Your music is playing, your candles are lit, your bath water is running, so grab your book, and now get your body scrub and/or facial treatments (and foundation brush) from the  kitchen. Don’t forget to pour your wine so you can have it for either your bath or after. You might also want to get your things together for your manicure/pedicure so you have it ready. Remember this night is about relaxing and making things as easy as possible.

If you have made both treatments then apply the scrub to your body first. Stand on a towel and slow apply in circle motions the scrub to your entire body. The towel will catch any remains. Then apply the facial treatment to your face by using a foundation brush and paint your entire face and neck.

Once you are done slowly get into the warm bath and start relaxing. Leave on your facial for at least 15-20 minutes. Relax in the bath by listening to the music or reading your book. When you are ready to get out use your shower puff to remove the remainder of your facial and body scrub. Towel off and apply your new Quench body  lotion.

You should feel refreshed, hydrated, and relaxed already.

Manicure/Pedicure

Now that you have had your spa treatment it’s time to do your hands and/or nails. If you haven’t set out your supplies already grab you new polish, base coat, bottom coat, hand cream, nail file, damp cloth, and cuticle supplies.

At home pedicure

You can use these steps for manicures and pedicures.

  • Begin by filing you nails to either shape them or shorten.
  • Apply cuticle oil to each nail on one hand, rub in, and then use orange stick to push cuticles back. Then do the same for other hand.
  • Apply you favorite hand cream and wait a few minutes for it to dry.
  • Wipe hands to remove excess oil and  hand cream.
  • Apply bottom coat to both hands and let dry.
  • Then apply two coats of your new nail polish.
  • When dry apply top coat to both hands.

Once you have completed your manicure/pedicure sit back and relax by reading some more, listening to music, or watching your favorite movie while drinking your wine.

Before bed apply Vitamin E oil or Vaseline to your face, elbows, knees, feet, and other dry areas. You might feel a little greasy but in the morning your skin will feel soft and refreshed.

Just think you can have a relaxing spa night without breaking the bank, and you probably spend under $50.

P.S. Spa night might also work for a great date night!
