Chicago on a Budget: Plan a Mini Getaway
Feel like you need to just need to get away but your on a budget? Here are some ideas to help you plan a mini vacation- getaway in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
1. Plan to do the activities you keep meaning to do
Ok, you might not be actually getting on a plane or driving far, but planning a whole weekend of fun or new activities can really make you feel refreshed come Monday morning.
- Be a tourist, plan a trip to that museum exhibit you have been meaning to do all year.
- Go to that great new restaurant you have been wanting to try.
- Go see a show whether it’s comedy, musical, or your favorite band.
- Be spontaneous and drive off to explore something new.

2. Check out a fabulous local Chicago hotel
It will feel relaxing just to get out of your normal routine. Chicago is full of fantastic hotels, why not take advantage of them? 3. Head Out of the City
Here are great places to visit outside of the city.
- Go to one of Chicago’s favorite wineries, Lynfred Winery. You can take a tour, and even stay for the night at their European Bed & Breakfast.
- Enjoy the Fall, do some hiking or biking and stay the Starved Rock Lodge.
- Spend the weekend at Grand Geneva in Wisconsin.
- Get away with your friends to St.Louis and stay at the Bissell Mansion and enjoy a Murder Mystery Weekend.
