Remembering the Legendary Elizabeth Taylor

Mar 23, 2011

I heard some really sad new this morning – the legendary and probably one of the most talented actresses of our time, Elizabeth Taylor has passed away at age 79.

When you hear news like this I know I always think back to the memories you have of watching their movies and following their life, and she sure did have a very amazing life. She was born Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor in London in 1929 to American parents who were living in London at the time.

Elizabeth actually stayed a British citizen throughout her life. As a young child she moved back to America and a few year later she appeared in her first movie, There’s One Born Every Minute, at the young age of nine.

Obviously she went on to play many famous roles including Little Women, Father of the Bride, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Cleopatra just to name a few. Elizabeth also won numerous awards for her amazing work and was sadly known also for her many failed marriages (she was married 8 times).

I will remember her the most for her amazing style. She’s so classic and always looked so stunningly beautiful, like a true glamorous star even in her older years. The pictures I have chosen really show her style, she wore everything so well.

She had a passion for jewelry and launched three successful perfumes, “Passion”, “White Diamonds”, and “Black Pearls”. Elizabeth also supported and devoted a lot of her time to charities including AIDS and Gay Rights.

No one has lived up to Elizabeth’s talent and beauty and she is Hollywood’s true golden star. When I think of Elizabeth Taylor I think, beauty, class, diamonds, and a legend. She’s won’t be forgotten, may she rest in peace.

  • This is such a sweet tribute. Thanks, Kelly. She really did have amazing style – what an icon. Ms. Taylor transcends every generation. However, is it okay that I recall Charlotte York Goldenblatt naming her dog “Elizabeth Taylor” as my most poignant memory, when first hearing of her death? Couldn’t help it, I loved that part!

  • Thanks Staci! LOL I think those are the best memories, sometimes it’s not just their movies that we remember :)
