Tips to Having Great Skin in the Winter

Dec 2, 2010

One of the worst feelings in the world is having dry, flaky and dull looking skin. The winter is the worst for drying out your skin so you have to take extra special care during winter months. So, I thought I would share my tips to keeping my skin beautiful and my face fresh and glowing.

1. Moisturize Your Skin Everyday

I am a huge fan of keeping your skin moisturized all year long. I think I have put lotion on everyday since I was twelve. So the number one thing you should always do everyday is use a great moisturizer on your entire body. In the winter you should use a lotion that is extra healing or a lotion that is a little heavier then what you would typically use in summer months.

Here are some of my favorites:

2. In the Shower & Bath

Most people will tell you not to take hot showers in the winter, well that is probably one of my favorite things to do in the winter so you can have good skin and take hot showers! I just make sure I used a good body scrub with a great moisturizer in my body wash that will get rid of all the dead skin and give me a great glow. I would also say to take a bath once a week and add your favorite salt and bath gel to rejuvenate your skin. It will also give you a spa like experience and help to relax your body.

Here is what I like to use:

3. Sun-Kissed in the Winter

I am really light-skin so when I lose my summer tan, it feel so awful and the worst thing you can do it pile on more makeup. However, keeping my skin in great condition and using a light self-tanner really helps to keep my skin glowing. I don’t want to look orange or totally fake but I have found a few self-tanners that really work to give my skin at great sun-kissed look. Here’s a tip, make sure you mix your self-tanner with your daily lotion. It will not only tone it down but help the self-tanner blend into your skin.

Here is what I’m using right now:

4. Remove your Makeup

Yes, it is so important to remove your makeup every night, I get lazy too but I really try to make it part of my nightly routine. It can be really easy if you just use those makeup remover clothes, the good ones! Also, after you have removed your makeup make sure to moisture your face.

I love these:

5. For Your Lips

I’m a big fan of chap stick and lip gloss, I wear it everyday. Along with your skin it is important to keep your lips hydrated as well.

I use:

$2.49

$10

6. Drink!

All of these tips to having great skin will not work if you don’t drink enough water to keep your body hydrated. If you don’t drink a lot of water then well you should start, I did :).  I have also started my morning out with a glass of milk and I make sure I have water with me all day along. I really do use all these products everyday and along with drinking more water I have noticed such a difference in my skin. I feel very healthy and I have a great glow!

Please share your beauty tips, products, or routines with me. I would love to hear your tips and favorites.
